Finally the weather is getting better. After a long time I did a walk in my lunch break.

I walked to the field near my work place I’ve been ever so often. I found my self asking what should I shoot here? I’ve took so many photos here – most of them not published – I had the feeling I already captured it all.

Then I saw this transmission towers on the field. I’ve never did photos in that direction because I always find them distracting for the view.

I was wrong! By standing at one of the towers I found so many great patterns that I knew this will give some great shuts. I ended up with the following photos I’m very happy with.

Light painting 2013-03

Photography is a great hobby. There are always new things to learn and discover.

Yesterday I met with some friends for a light painting photo shooting. It was our first time doing light painting with steel wool. We had a great time and learned a lot about photography and our cameras.

Happy Shooting "Hörertreffen"

Yesterday I had a great evening meeting other hobby photographer on a Happy Shooting “Hörertreffen” in Karlsruhe. We meet at a bar and had some nice photography related talks. Afterwards we walk through the city where I snapped the following pictures. Thank you Marco for organizing the event.

Worldwide Photo Walk 2012 Mannheim

On the 13th of October 2012 I took part on Scott Kelbys Worldwide Photo Walk.
With about twenty others we walked from the “Mannheimer Wasserturm” through the city.

Below you find a selection of the photos I took at the walk.

I am happy that the first photo (“Mannheimer Wasserturm”) has been selected as the best photo of the walk in Mannheim.

Rectangular shadows

I took this photo during my lunch break.
I love the shadows of the vans and how the white line runs through the shadows. I wasn’t sure which of the both versions looks better. In the end I’ve decided to publish the black and white version on Flickr.
Which one do you like the most?

Street photography in my home town

I love street photography, but most of the times I’m not satisfied with the results. I find it difficult to make pictures that have less disturbance and guiding the eyes of the viewer to what I find interesting on the picture.

Rainy city of Ettlingen

This is an alley on a rainy day in Ettlingen, the city I live in.

I find it hard to take pictures on rainy days. Not because of getting wet more of the circumstance that it is complicated to make the rain visible.

Even if it’s heavily raining like on the pictures I took in Saigon the rain itself mostly isn’t visible.
